Two World Records for Dolphin at British National Masters

set new world records at the 2007 short
course ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships over the weekend.
  Manley won
the 100m freestyle gold in the 30-34 year age group in a world record time of 50.24,
while Commonwealth medallist,
Jones (25-29
years), touched home 20 seconds clear of his nearest rivals in the 200m breaststroke
in a world record breaking time of 2.14.44.

 

Manley went
on to smash the european record in the 200m freestyle and the british record in the
100m Butterfly, while the 72 year+ mixed 4 x 50m medley relay foursome of Jon
Audis
, Jones, Kath
Baker
and Louise
Maynard
also set a british record.

Chris Jones – World Record (25-29 yrs) 200m brs

Records
continued to tumble in the relay events with
Audis, Jones, Manley and Nigel
Masters
setting a european record in the men’s 100
year+ 4 x 50m medley, and a british record in the men’s 100 year+ 4 x 50m freestyle. 
Andrea
Alleyne
, Maynard, Katherine
Bowe
and Baker also took
a british record in the women’s 72 year+ 200m medley relay.

 

The
event, held at Ponds Forge Arena in
Sheffield
, saw the 21 strong Dolphin team put
on an incredible display
in the pool and
return to their

Milton Road

base with a memorable haul of 21 gold, 6 Silver and 10 bronze medals.



 

Dolphin

Manley,
lead the way from the outset and brought his tally of individual gold medals
to 5 with further victories in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.



 

Jon
Audis
had
a tremendous campaign taking gold in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstrokes, & 100m
Individual Medley (IM) in the 25-29 year age group.  There
were also individual successes for
Nigel
Masters
(35-39 years) in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststrokes, Jones in
the 400m freestyle,
Paul
Kirk
(35-39 years) in the 200m IM and for Anthony
Clark
who won the 50m breaststroke.



 

Not
to outdone by the men,
Alleyne, Maynard and Baker (all
18–24 years), won silver medals for the women.  
Sarah
Lock
secured 2 third places in the 35-39 year age group.

Clark

(40-44
years) was in awesome form over the 3 days of competition, setting personal best times
on his way to amassing a
complete set of gold, silver and bronze medals in the 50m, 200m and 100m breaststrokes
respectively.



 

There
was also a noteworthy second place for
John
Drake
(30-34 years) in the 200m butterfly and Michael
Eaton
(30-34 years) added a bronze medal to the Dolphin
collection in the 100m backstroke.



 

The
other outstanding performances of the weekend saw

(25-29 years) achieving a significant personal
best in the 100m freestyle and 
Dolphin storming
to victory in the 72 year+ mixed open relay.
