This week Swindon Dolphin announced its involvement in the ASA South West Young Volunteers Project for 2009/10.

The initiative forms a partnership between Swindon Dolphin, the Amateur Swimming Association, Wiltshire and Swindon Activity & Sports Partnerships and Step Into Sport, and aims to promote the involvement of young people in volunteering within a Swim 21 accredited club.

Ten members of Swindon Dolphin all aged between 14 and 19 have signed up to the scheme and committed to each provide at least 25 hours of voluntary service within the club.  The youngsters will have the opportunity to work towards gaining awards including Young Aquatics Organiser, Team Manager and Timekeeper as well as teaching and coaching their fellow swimmers.

With many of the volunteers still currently swimming with the club, it will give them a valuable insight into the running of a swimming club.  For those who have decided not to pursue their swimming career, the scheme also ensures their valued contribution towards the clubs progress and continued involvement in the sport.

Those participating from Swindon Dolphin are Jade Cholod, Ben Clark, James Clark, Dani Harris, Tessa Hills, Joe Kerslake, Rachel Moorhouse, Beth Preston, Josh Preston and John Waite.
