Swindon Dolphin ASC is Wiltshire’s premier swimming club seeking
to enable its members to achieve success at county, regional, national and international
levels of competitive swimming and water polo. Providing the highest standard of
teaching and coaching, the club is committed to helping every member reach their
maximum potential across a wide range of ages and abilities (including masters and
people with disabilities) in addition to promoting positive lifelong, physical and
social values, skills and qualities, within a safe and healthy environment.
The club’s structure (outlined below) currently supports swimming sessions spread
over 40 pool hours per week as well as a land based programme. This ranges from
Swim Channel, Swindon Dolphin’s highly acclaimed, Learn to Swim programme (offering
structured lessons for children aged 4 and above, as per the ASA National Plan for
Teaching Swimming) through to various squads catering for developing swimmers at
all levels of competition and others specifically geared towards the needs of Seniors
and Masters.
Formed in 1952, the Club’s membership is made up of approximately 400 swimmers and
over 50 non swimming helpers and officials.
To provide the best possible calibre of coaching, the Club retains a full time
Chief Coach, Andi Manley, a full time Swimming Development Officer,
Steve Cryer in addition to ASA Coach, Tessa Farr
and a team of ASA Swimming Teachers. Every year Dolphin competes at the ASA Wiltshire
County Championships, the South West Regional Championships and the National Championships
while the Water Polo squad takes part in the Bristol & West and National Leagues.
