Dolphin Miss Out in Thriller

Event:  Bristol and West League Fixture
Teams: Swindon Dolphin v Bristol Central II
Location:  Milton Road, Swindon
Date: Sunday 5th October 2008

Swindon Dolphin just missed out on another victory in a tense encounter against Bristol Central II at Milton Road on Sunday Evening.  The away team just held on for a victory by a single goal after a last quarter come back by the home team.

Dolphin started reasonably well and were level at four goals each at the end of the first period.   However, the home team were unable to maintain this and the consistent Bristol team scored four goals in each quarter of the encounter and opened up a three goal lead by the end of the third period.  Swindon showed a lot of determination and character to come back and win the last quarter by six goals to four but it was too little, too late.

Goal were spread throughout the team with main contributions from Michal Trzeciak (5), Andy Hicks (2), Chris Selby (2), Ian Brewer (2), Diogo Monteiro, Matt James, Angelo Polymeris and Andrew Prowse.

Major fouls were worryingly on the high side again which was ultimately the downfall for the side with many of the goals scored by Bristol coming from these man up situations.

Goalkeeper Andy Watts said after the encounter “We did really well to come back into this match.  All credit must go to the lads who came off the bench and stepped up to the mark when required.  We were so close but in the end just left ourselves with a little too much to do.”
