Swindon Dolphin were amongst the 900 competitors from 240 clubs competing at this year’s British Gas ASA Masters and Senior Age Group Championships (25m).  Setting the standard for their team mates in the first session was the partnership of Sarah Forbes, Kathleen Baker, Louise Maynard and Sharna King who set a new British masters 72+ years record in the women’s 4 x 100m medley relay.

Louise Maynard and Kath Baker

Dolphin’s run of good form in the relays continued as Maynard and Baker were joined by Matthew Thomas and Mark Tanner in the 4 x 100m freestyle and Thomas and Jon Audis in the 4 x 100m medley with both performances again reaping new British records.  With additional contributions from some of the other fifteen Dolphin competitors, there were a further three silver and two bronze medals in the relay events.

In the individuals, Kath Baker took four gold and one silver from the five events entered; a remarkable performance considering the seven relays she had also swum over the weekend.

Other medallists were Jon Audis (1 gold, 2 silver), Anthony Clark (1 gold, 1 silver), Sarah Forbes (2 bronze), Sharna King (1 bronze), Jose Adam (1 bronze) and Matthew Thomas (1 bronze).
