Two More go National at Gloucester

Event: Gloucester City Level 2 Open Meet
Venue: GL1 Gloucester
Date: 7th to 8th May 2011

Swindon Dolphin’s national qualifier tally rose to six last weekend as James Watson and Charlotte Pitts added themselves to the list at the Gloucester City open meet.  Watson qualified in the 200m backstroke which also gives him the opportunity to compete in the 100m event whilst Pitts dipped under the mark in the 400m freestyle and only just missed the target in the 50m freestyle by 0.2 of a second.

The two were part of a 21 strong contingent from the Milton Road based club and for many of the younger swimmers, this was their last opportunity to achieve qualifying times for the South West Region Age Group Championships in June.  Noah Kirby and Rebecca Matthews and will now both be competing in all four event categories with Kirby qualifying in the 200m individual medley and Matthews securing qualifying times in both the 200m and 400m freestyle.

Top Dolphin medallists over the weekend meet were Liam Herbert (4 gold), James Watson (2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze), Ben Sarachi (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze) and Matthew Sambrook (1 gold).
