Dolphin on top at County Age Groups

Event: Wiltshire County Age Group Championships
Venue: Link Centre, Swindon
Date: 8th, 21st and 22nd March 2015

Last weekend saw the conclusion of the Wiltshire Age Group Swimming Championships (10 to 13 years) at the Link Centre where a superb overall performance by Swindon Dolphin saw them top the final medal table with 25 gold, 28 silver and 18 bronze.

This was the first season under the new British Swimming regulations that excludes the previous 9 and 10 year old age groups from county competitions and changes the minimum age to 10. Whilst this meant a much less busy poolside, the competition was no less intense with 170 swimmers from 16 clubs taking part in the competition over three days.

Top performer for Dolphin was Harrison Crook with 6 gold and 5 silver. Also adding to the haul were Henry Rideout (5 gold, silver, 4 bonze), Miles Farrington (4 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze), Erin Henly (3 gold, 3 silver), Henry Pearce (2 gold, 5 silver, bronze), Charlotte Purvis (2 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze), Noah Parker (2 gold, silver, bronze), Maya Grounsell (gold, 4 silver), Megan Adamson (3 silver, 3 bronze), Oscar Pearcey (silver, bronze), Emilie Gulliver (bronze), Hannah Knight (bronze), Leo Ng (bronze).

Dolphin coach Mark Pearcey was clearly pleased with the result and commented afterwards, “Not only were the swimmers extremely competitive and performed brilliantly, but the technical elements of the swims including starts, turns and finishes raises the bar for many of the other swimmers in the club.”
