Adam and Amber get the green light for Millfield

Event: Tigersharks Spring Open Meet
Venue: Link Centre
Date: 18th April 2010

A small but select group of Dolphin swimmers were at the Link Centre last Sunday for the Tigersharks Spring Open Meet.  All competitors were looking to either add to existing Regional qualifying times or, more importantly, make the step up from County competition and achieve Regional qualification for the first time.

The first event saw Abbie Hawkins adding the 100m freestyle to her existing regional qualifying times.  Hawkins went on to qualify in the 200m freestyle which gives her events in all BAGCAT categories and therefore a fighting chance of competing for a place in the overall championship awards.  Also completing the full set of categories was Rebecca Matthews with a fine swim in the 200m individual medley.

The first of two new Dolphin qualifiers, Amber Davies hit the required mark in the 200m breaststroke, and just missed out in the 200m freestyle later in the afternoon.  Also booking his place at Millfield was Development Squad swimmer Adam Coleman in the 200m backstroke who has finally realised some of the potential he has looked to have had for some time.

Other swimmers adding to their existing portfolio of qualifying times were Ben Sarachi in the 200m backstroke and Noah Kirby in the 100m backstroke.  Just missing out on first time qualification, despite some good swims in personal best times were James Chantler-Mayne, Joanna Farley and Jack Patey.
