Swindon Dolphin Masters are currently one of the most successful masters clubs in the county.  All training sessions are conducted under the guidance of ASA qualified coaching staff and where appropriate follow a training plan geared around specific target competitions.

Membership Options

There are membership options to suit all levels of swimmer; from novice to those wanting to compete at international level.  For those with the commitment and determination, there is a proven track record of progression up through these levels.

1 Session (ASA Category 1)

Choice of 1 session from either Sunday evening, Tuesday morning or Wednesday evening (see training schedule). This caters for everything from the casual swimmer to competitive level in Swindon ‘s Milton Road large pool (33m). Typical structured session plan will cover all strokes (you do what you can), drills and kick sets – over various distances. Total session distance would typically be up to 3000m (although casual swimmers will do far less than this).

There is also a Masters teaching lane which gives the weaker swimmer an opportunity of learning all four stroke techniques. Teaching is provided by an ASA qualified teacher, and is typically tailored to each individuals ability and asperations and will cover all strokes. The only criteria for this lane is that you are able to swim at least 33 metres using any stroke.

2 Sessions (ASA Category 1)

Choice of 2 sessions from either Sunday evening, Tuesday morning or Wednesday evening. (see training schedule).

Friday evening session focused more towards improving technique than distance.

3 Sessions (ASA Category 1)

Sessions on Sunday evening, Tuesday morning or Wednesday evening (see training schedule). This includes short course (25m) training and Swindon’s Milton Road large pool (33m). Swimmers at this should be confident in water as distances swam during these sessions would typically fall in the 2000m plus category. Typical structured session plan will cover all strokes, including drills, kick sets, distance and speed sets.

Competition swimming is not mandatory for Competitive Masters – although is encouraged. Please see details below covering the wide range of competition levels available to all Swindon Dolphin Masters.
